MAN 1 (in a high pitched, whiny voice) Look what you’ve done to my peonies!

WOMAN (angrily) They’re marigolds!

MAN 2 God! I think she’s right! They are marigolds!

MAN 1 I may not know my flowers, but I know a (yells in her direction) bitch when I see one!

I looked this up because I had to know what it’s from. It’s a film called The Gay Deceivers (1969), and it’s about two straight men who, seeking to avoid the draft, claim to be gay, but then have to keep up the pretense when the army places them under surveillance.

The man in the red cardigan in the clip was played by Michael Greer, who was openly gay himself - unusual for the time. He actually worked closely with the director and rewrote much of the film’s dialogue to reduce the homophobia and make it more realistic. As a result it’s quite progressive for its time, having a gay character, played by a gay man, living in a happy same-sex relationship, which is more than a lot of media offers us today.

Plus the clip is delightful.

I just looked it up on wikipedia and fucking

The twist is that even after the pair is caught, they are not inducted into the military. The Army investigators assigned to watch them are themselves gay and are trying to keep straight people out of the Army.

Anti-trans pundits keep accusing me of “redefining womanhood” so I’m going to roll with it. However, I still believe in justice for both real women and cis women. Just because a cis woman didn’t spend years thinking about her gender doesn’t mean she’s not as valid as trans women. Cis women are only being their authentic selves and deserve support too. They even sometimes go through their own gender journeys with fashion, media, and experimentation. I see no reason why we can’t support our female cisters, who are just like us despite being assigned female at birth by a doctor. Feminism means respecting all women: actual women and cis women alike.

The Department of Home Affairs suggested scanning porn viewers faces to verify their identity before they can access porn.

Peter Dutton’s latest move towards a surveillance state has proposed that viewers or porn and gamblers have their faces verified against a central government database. The idea is to combat underage people’s ability to access material they shouldn’t. The UK has abandoned a similar idea after years of technical problems and privacy concerns.

Imagine opening up your laptop late at night, unzipping your pants, and a message popping up saying you can’t look at MILFs because the government can’t verify your face in the dark at a weird upwards angle. Nothing kills the mood than thinking “ah damn, I need to get a good selfie angle so daddy Dutton will let me wank.” I bet you felt gross just reading that sentence.

Not only is the government already enforcing internet providers to track and store your metadata for 2 years so there’s already a list of times you’ve jerked off somewhere, but now the government wants to prove your identity each time you do it. Don’t have a photo stored with the government’s facial tracking system? No jollies for you.

Obviously there’s some serious concerns about privacy breaches, and not just because it’s removing the privacy between you and your breeches. The idea is part of a greater surveillance bill that was rejected by the government’s intelligence and security committee which has recommended the law be redrafted with more safeguards and is the first time the committee has rebuffed a proposed security law since the wake of 9/11.

if you are going to do historical inaccuracy, then go big. Just take it to a whole ‘nother level.

I mean like Knight’s Tale “chanting Queen at the jousting tournament ‘foxy lady’” levels of anachronism. Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters with Hansel injecting himself with insulin and Gretel wielding a multiple-shot crossbow levels of anachronism. Go for Blazing Saddles, Blackadder, Jack of All Trades, Connecticut Yankee levels of anachronism

you either have to play by the rules or throw out the book.

Go full on Xena. All of history happened at the same time. Get your legs broken by Caesar and find out Lao Tzu didn’t write that book, his wife did, and she hitting on you…all 10 years before you go meet up with Helen at Troy. Fight with Beowulf and commission Sappho within a few months of each other. Abraham and Issac? Only like 2 years before Jesus. Invent CPR and the kite during the bronze age. Watch your gal pal teach Homer how to be a better bard. Have a fucking battle of the bands in Ancient Greece. TIME IS MEANINGLESS.

do you know how annoying it is to have to go through the notes of a post to find a version of something without an image description

keplercryptids answered:

wow, that’s a really shitty thing to do. seriously, it’s the equivalent of barring an accessible entrance because you don’t like the way wheelchairs look. going out of your way to make the world less accessible is…..just about the shittiest thing you could choose to do, and it makes me sad that a person is so selfish and, tbh, cruel to do that. get well soon, anon.

for the record, this is why I push for artists to add descriptions to their original posts, not through reblogs. you’re catering to people like this ^ if you don’t.
