Hey, y’know what would be totally fucking awesome?
A Silent Hill-esque game with a transgender girl as the protagonist- just think about it
The entire series (1-4, the ones made by the original team) is about people coming to terms with their emotional issues and mistakes, and each person is generally fucked up in a lot of ways (James, Heather, that other guy) or is very close to someone who is fucked up (like Harry seeing Cheryl’s issues manifested)
The monsters in those games reflect personal flaws of the protagonist’s- James sees feminine monsters because of his sexual frustration and aggression toward his wife, Heather sees reminders of her childhood abuse and negative hospitalisation, Henry doesn’t matter, etc etc
So what better situation than to have a trans woman who hasn’t yet accepted herself, and must battle with the creepies that represent the masculinity she’s leaving behind, her consistent social abuse, and the shadows of her past? She’d have to survive the terrors that every trans person must, as well as the constant threat of death at her own hands- it could lead to some very frightening situations and some difficult decisions, as well as fantastic monster designs based on her perceived self issues. As the game continued, she’d get more self aware and confident, which I know is a progression that I’d love to see.
Just… Think about it :>

The primary antagonist is a version of herself that’s trying to kill her because the main thing she’s struggling against out of all of these problems is her suicidal feelings? maybe omg though this is amazing

I support this idea but I doubt she’d come to terms with her issues, at least not in a way that makes her confident, if it was done in true Silent Hill form. Each of the games sort of end with the protags going “well fuck I fucked up, I fucked up I’m trash.”But this could totally work if it was closer to one of Silent Hill’s bigger inspirations, Jacob’s Ladder, where the ending is a bit lighter and has more implications of peaceful acceptance over Lovecraftian “HUMANITY SUCKS EVERYONE DIES” morals.

it really depended on the game, each had an ideal and nice ending in which they moved on and dealt with thing
like in one, when Harry gets out with Cheryl and they’re implied to hook up, and two, when James gets over that he murdered his wife, or three when Heather deals with the cult and decides to just be a normal kid, and who cares about four it had immortal ghosts
like most of the endings you can get easily are good, and of course there’d be a few horrible ones like suicide/lost/murder and such
